[*] The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), is an institute whose main objectives are to seize upon unprecedented opportunities and technologies to further understanding of how drugs of abuse affect the brain and behavior, as well as to work towards ensuring the rapid and effective transfer of scientific data to policy makers, drug abuse practitioners, other health care practitioners and the general public. The NIDA web page is an important part of this effort. [*] National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) supports and conducts biomedical and behavioral research on the causes, consequences, treatment, and prevention of alcoholism and alcohol-related problems. NIAAA also provides leadership in the national effort to reduce the severe and often fatal consequences of these problems. [*] Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) is a nationwide, multi-disciplinary resource that draws upon the knowledge, experience and latest work of recognized experts in the field of addictions. Technology transfer is the transmission of information for the purpose of achieving behavior change; transmiting the latest knowledge, skills and attitudes of professional addiction treatment practice, to achieve the goal of enhancing clinical practice.
